¶ PONSSE EV1 electric-powered forwarder
Description: Ponsse and Epec present a new, electric forest machine technology concept, the PONSSE EV1. The forest machine will be commercially available later, but Epec's technology can already be utilized in the electrification of commercial vehicles and mobile work machines. Ponsse's technology concept is a glimpse into the future, showing the direction for technological development and solutions for responsible logging.
Ponsse EV1 concept has been developed for a forwarder in Ponsse's most popular size category, a 15-tonne load capacity. The concept machine has a fully electric powertrain and an Epec power distribution unit and powertrain control unit. The machine's drivetrain operates solely on energy from the batteries. The Range Extender is used to charge the battery, which is currently powered by a combustion engine. Testing and development work are progressing all the time. It can be seen that the technology achieves a clear reduction in fuel consumption in the size category in question.
