Public descriptions emphasise expandable or reconfigurable vehicle architectures that allow trucks to carry “one more stack” of cargo without proportionally increasing fleet size, labour input, or site congestion. This includes ideas such as integrated loading structures, rapid‑deployment mechanisms, and reduced reliance on external handling equipment. The intended outcome is a truck that arrives on site already prepared to perform work, rather than one that requires significant manual staging, alignment, or auxiliary machinery before becoming productive.
Autonomy within the One More Stack vision is contextual and incremental. Rather than prioritising high‑speed, long‑haul autonomous driving on public roads, ETT appears to emphasise low‑speed, task‑oriented automation - for example, self‑positioning, precision docking, coordinated movement with loading systems, or automated repetition of constrained manoeuvres in yards, depots, or worksites. In this framing, autonomy supports workflow consistency, safety, and reduced human fatigue, but does not replace the human operator as the system owner.
Crucially, there is limited public evidence of large‑scale autonomous driving trials associated with the One More Stack concept, particularly when compared to programs such as FPInnovations/Kratos or Bot Auto, which foreground autonomous haulage as the primary deliverable. As a result, One More Stack is best described as TRL 3–5: a strong conceptual and architectural innovation, with promising applicability in controlled or semi‑structured environments, but not yet a validated autonomous transport system.
Its primary differentiation lies in vehicle form factor and workflow redesign, not in demonstrated autonomy at scale. For sectors such as forestry, construction, or industrial logistics, this makes One More Stack an interesting future‑enabling platform concept, but one that would require significant maturation, integration, and operational validation before deployment in Australian conditions.
