Description: The TTA‑ISO CuttingEdge system automates the planting of rooted and unrooted cuttings using robotic arms, machine vision (CuttingVision), air‑jet separation (VisionAir), and a shared learning platform (VisionHub). The system not only reduces labour but enables cutting setups and performance data to be shared across users, embedding learning into the machinery itself.
With capacities of approximately 1,800–2,500 cuttings per hour for single‑head systems and up to 4,500 cuttings per hour for double‑head systems, CuttingEdge operates at TRL 8–9. Capital costs typically range from $600,000 to $1.8 million. Strategically, it enables scalable clonal forestry under labour scarcity and exemplifies the transition toward AI‑enabled nursery machinery.
